REOPEN CALIFORNIA HAIR SALONS – WE ARE AN INEVITABLE AND SAFE BUSINESS!
- The CDC recognized the safety success of mask wearing in hair salons.
- Hair services are requested and performed inevitably, open or closed.
- Hair professionals are trained in sanitation and provide an essential service.
Hair salons and barbershops are an Inevitable Business and have proven the ability to operate safely in our current pandemic. As posted on the CDC website, two stylists in Missouri had COVID-19, wore masks, and 139 clients did not become infected. The CDC is now touting this as success for masks but California policymakers have ignored that this is also a success for salons.

Example Quote (can be used if needed):
“The safety of our clients and my team is always my top priority.” Said Anny VanDriel, owner of Be Rosie Salon in Claremont, CA. “The CA government needs to recognize that we are professionals who are specifically trained in proper sanitation procedures. We have been following the guidelines set forth by our CA State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology and the CDC and those guidelines have kept our clients and teams safe.”
As business closures become the solution to controlling the spread of COVID-19, hair salons and barbershops are taking an enormous, and unnecessary hit. We may not be an essential business but we are an inevitable business. Shutdown or not, people continue to seek our services and we continue to provide services. Providing these services inside our regulated and sanitized professional establishments is how we will continue to promote public safety.
The CA State Board and CDC have well thought out guidelines for us to follow. The minute we’re providing backyard services those guidelines go out the window. We want to work safely and have proven we can do so. Hair salons and barbershops need to be included in the Essential Business list and allowed to remain open during closures.
Inevitable Business was created by three salon owners in southern California as a tool to help organize hair industry professionals to promote positive change and share their voice. http://inevitable-business.org and IG @inevitablebusiness
